My next novel will be set in my home city of Norwich. The novel is 50k words in and only now do I decide that it was crazy setting it in a city I had not been to, so some adjustments naturally have to take place before I complete it.
Don’t ask me why I didn’t think to set it here originally. I got this far before thinking, what am I doing? Norwich is the perfect location to place my story.
Excited that Norwich will have a starring part, I decided to spend the day out taking photographs and walking in my main character’s footsteps. Where would he go to eat, to entertain himself, to buy his groceries? My list of questions became endless and I got to know him better through them. I thought I knew him before but today, I saw the city through his eyes and began to know him in more depth.
I have lived here for over twenty years, my character is a newcomer, from another country. I am looking forward to seeing what he thinks of Norwich and the inhabitants.
